What happened to the contents of the coach house?
There are no specific images of the carriages and coaches mentioned in the 1901 and 1915 inventories. By the time of the 1947 sale many of them would have been replaced by newer versions or have been updated to motor cars.
Esme’s will mentions motor cars in 2 legacies:
“to my nephew Cecil Eustace Irby … my Wolseley car or any other car of mine that he may chose”
“… to my daughter Esme Frances Sylvia Cavendish … all such of my motor cars, motor accessories and spare parts for motor cars …”
